Neither the first nor the second game report the (internal) memory card. I cannot save!

Also, there are major slowdowns in GoW2 and both games fail to show the shadows, but this is a known problem. Not being able to save isnt!
Yes, there is an internal memory card for PS2 (I checked and other games DO recognize it). Anybody?

I hope you have learned something from our little games.

I realize this is kind of late, but did you try assigning to both slot 1 and 2?
My son recently had an issue, but I'm not sure if he was doing it wrong or if it was a game issue (he's only 6).
